DES-SERT on Android

We developed a port of the DES-SERT library  to run our routing daemons on Android based devices. Each deamon is simply compiled for the ARM architecture und linked with libdessert as dependency. The dependencies of libdessert, e.g., libcli and libpthreads are partially resolved custom compiled support libraries. The DES-SERT App  is our Android application which is used to install the routing framework and to download, configure, and run the daemons.

The DES-SERT project enables ad-hoc routing in mobile networks in a convenient way. At this time, the DES-SERT App is used only for research purposes of wireless networks. As next step we will evaluate if the most commonly used Android applications and services can still be used if the mobile station is connected by a multi-hop wireless network. We expect timeout problems to arise due to application or transport layer protocol issues.
