DES-Scez: A tool for scenario management in wireless sensor networks
Experimentation requires selection of a subset of wireless sensor nodes from the entire testbed, as a first step. This selection is mostly made without following any specified rules. Moreover, the selected wireless sensor nodes might not be the best choice according to fulfill user requirements. Therefore, node selection has an impact on the results of an experiment. It is also observed that the selection of appropriate nodes, for a particular experiment, is a tedious task involving many pitfalls especially when it involves a large number of nodes. A software tool can be developed to overcome these problems.
Objective
The core objective of this software tool is to establish a complete control over the wireless sensor network topology construction, management and maintenance.
Features
A software tool is proposed to minimize most problems arising in experimentation with wireless sensor nodes in a testbed. This tool, called DES-Scez (DES-Scenario), will provide the user with the complete picture of the testbed before running an experiment. A user is the person who will ultimately benefit from this software. However, initially it is only the developer of the software. DES-Scez will also assist the user by proposing different scenarios that might be of interest to the user.Initially, the focus of this tool will be to facilitate the experimentation in DES-WSN. However, the same tool can be extended to cater for similar needs in DES-WMN.
