DES-SERT in Kernel Space
The DES-SERT routing framework supports the implementation of routing protocols in user space. Due to the user / kernel space context switches, a delay is introduced and the throughput decreased. Therefore a kernel space based port would increase the overall performance.
Objectives
- Get familiar with DES-SERT
- Get familiar with kernel programming and kernel modules
- Port DES-SERT to kernel space
- No modifications to routing daemons shall be required to use them in kernel space
- Routing protocols in kernel space should be usable like the daemons when used in experiments
