Development of a Network Performance Test Tool
There are several tools to measure the throughput in a computer network: iperf, thrulay, nttcp, nuttcp, netperf, etc. Unfortunately, there is no perfect tool that provides all the features that are required for our research. The most important issue is that signaling data is often transfered over the same route as the data packets. This might lead to contention among the different types of packets and signalling information might be lost due to lossy wireless links.
Objectives
- Tryout several throughput measurement tools in the testbed
- Have a look at the source code of the tools and which features they provide
- Implement a similar tool that incorporates all features of the others and complies with our requirements
- Evaluate your tool in the testbed
