Event-Generator for Wireless Sensor Networks

Experimentation in Wireless Sensor Networks often requires triggering specific events at defined times. Doing this manually is error-prone and, with an increasing size of the sensor network, not practical. Therefore, a network wide event-generator that takes control of this part would greatly enhace the possibilities of sensor network experimentation. To permit the addition of further events as needed by the experimenter, the generator should be designed in a modular way.

Goals of this thesis:

  • Getting familiar with the topic and the DES-Testbed.
  • Identification of the most commonly used / needed types of events for Wireless Sensor Network Testbeds.
  • Creation of an event-generator framework for the DES-Testbed.
  • Implementation of the previoulsy identified events as modules for the event-generator framework.
  • Integration of the event-generator and its event-modules into the DES-Testbed.
