Extension of the Mobility Trace Generator (MoNoTrac)
The Mobile Node Tracer (MoNoTrac) is a Java application that simulates the movement paths of mobile entities on real geographical data. Research of wireless networks, such as Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks (MANETs) and Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) often relies on simulators such as ns-2 and OMNeT++. To specify the movement of the mobile entities, mobility models are needed that can be used to generate mobility traces as input for such simulation environments.

Currently, MoNoTrac supports the geo-data of Berlin provided by the OpenStreeMap project. Several mobility models are implemented that consider the geographical restrictions. In this work, you will experiment with MoNoTrac in order to stochastically and statistically analyze the implemented mobility models. Additional mobility models will be developed or adapted from existing ones. Finally, the software needs to be refined to make it available under the GPL to the research community.
Possible objectives:
- Experiment! Create meaningful scenarios that allow to analyze the created models stochastically and statistically in depth
- Extend MoNoTrac with additional mobility models considering geo-data (Manhatten, City Section, ..)
- Refine and enhance the software architecture and plug-in mechanism to allow easy extensibility
