Quality of Service in Wireless Networks
The amount of realtime applications will increase in the future Internet. To enable these applications, the network core has to offer some support for quality of service. The algorithms and protocols on the transport and network layer play a particular role in this area.
It is the goal of this thesis to consider on the one hand the transport layer to improve the network performance and on the other hand the development of new transport layer services for wireless mesh networks. In parallel to these tasks the routing has to be considered further and the relationship between routing and the transport layer has to be studied.
Objectives
- Investigate the influence of different routing metrics on the transport layer
- Figure out if the interactions of the concerned protocol layers of WSN, WMN and wired networks are comparable
- Make a statement about the technology independent realization of QoS support
