A Routing Framework for WSN
Routing in wireless sensor networks (WSN) is not an easy challenge due to its energy constraints, limited computional power and the lossy nature of wireless links. Existing routing protocols for traditional networks or wireless mesh networks (WMN) do not match these particular requirements. Therefore, research proposed a lot of new ones to fit exactly the specific needs of WSN applications. However, most of the work is based either on simulation or prototypical implementations.
For wireless mesh networks (WMN) based on IEEE~802.11 we developed a framework, called DES-SERT, which allows simple and operating system independent implementation of routing protocols. The goal of this thesis is to create a similar framework for sensor nodes.
Objectives:
- Evaluate existing approaches such as Wiselib.
- Create a generic framework for the implementation of routing protocols for WSN based on the MSB-A2 sensor node and µkleos micro-kernel.
- Implement an exemplary routing protocol using this framework.
