Virtual Topologies
While the DES-Testbed is a physical testbed installation that is exposed to the same external interference as real word installation, it is sometimes desirable to run experiments in a closed environment. Especially when repeatability is an issues, we want to have a consistent state during all repetitions of an experiment. We are currently setting a virtualizer, a server that runs dozens of virtual (wireless) mesh routers. Depending on the experiment these virtual machines shall be used to create particular topologies: grid, chain, random. In addition we like to be able to recreate the topology of our testbed in the virtual environment.
Objectives
- Get familiar with virtualization environment
- Develop tool to configure particular topologies
- Specify format for the description of topologies
- Use our testbed tools and information in the datebase to recreate the testbed topology
